William Hayward - HANCOCK - William W. Hayward, 64, of Sigsbee Street in Hancock died Saturday afternoon at Partage View Hospital a short time after being admitted.

He was born Oct 15, 1917 in Detroit, a son of Lottie and Ralph Hayward. He was a graduate of the Howell High School and received his degree at Wayne State Universary in 1938.

On Nov. 4, 1940 he married Blanche Cross of Kalkaska. He was employed as a supervisor at the Packard Motor Co., the Ford Motor C., Curtis-Wright and Chrysler Corporation. He retired in 1961 due to failing health.

Since 1971 he and his wife had made their home in Hancock.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche; a son, Robert W., of Utica; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Pelto of Ludington; four grandchildren, William and Christine Hayward and John and Eve Henderson; a brother Frederick Hayward of Hancock; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Champion of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at the O'Neill Funeral HOme in Hancock. The Rev. Wayne Huston will officiate and burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery in Royal Oak.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday.

The family suggest memorials to the American Cancer Society in lieu of other expressions of sympathy.
