| Note | Notes for: George Donald Shasteen b 1910 Marriage Information: Roberta: Marriage license have copy - Applied for marriage licence 7/17/1946 m 7/21/46 Cert # 1946B0007639 Census Information: 1930 census puts first family in Denver CO - George as a cutter in a tire factory (Gates Rubber Company once.) They moved back to LaJunta in 1929 or 1930 and lived with Frances’s parents. During the depression George worked at Kenyon Motor’s repoing cars with “ Uncle Red” (Frances’ sister Pauline’s husband) and when they both lost this job, George went to Brown’s Business School for about a year and got a job in Scotts Bluff NE (about 300 miles north of La Junta) at a car dealership. Apparently he had purchased a car there that he needed to return and his mother and father and Gerald (Murl’s son) were returning in his (Charles and Clara’s) car in Aug 1941 when they were broadsided. George was driving and Gerald was with him in the front seat and Charles and Clara were in the back seat and died as a result of the accident. George was working in Philadelphia with INS when he was drafted in Jun/Jul 1942, was in North Africa by Nov 5/7 1942 and returned to La Junta in the fall of 1945 Other information: Burial information: Plot: C1 0 1314 |
