Bio Information: Charles and his sister Nettie Mae were left on the Pelton Ranch, about 12 miles southeast of Dodge City, Ford County, by their father, William Henry Harrison Shasteen, while he returned to Ohio, reason unknown. He never made it back to get them and he then married his third wife Augusta Sauerbrei. Came to Ford County Kansas (Ford City) in October 1887 and moved to Gray County, Kansas in November 1896. 1937 to 1940 Colorado drivers license shows Charles as 61, 150 pounds Brown hair and eyes and 5' 3 1/2" tall. Address shown as 403 E. Costilla, Colorado Springs. 1936 Syracuse Lodge of the Mason's [Based on 1900 census, this woud be Charles b Oct 1859 OH and Emma Pelton as they were the only Peltons in Ford County Census.] Bio Info: Ingalls Union Dec 5, 1895 - (1) Mrs. Burns had a beef and 3 hogs killed, Tuesday (2) Miss Nettie Shasteen received a dispatch at Cimarron, Friday of last week, stating that her brother Harry was sick at Ford City [Ingalls SE 5 mi to Cimarron, SE 20 mi to Dodge City, SE 15 mi to Ford City] and they did not think he could live. She was taken to Ford that evening by Clarence Francisco. We understand that Harry is better.
