1830 Scioto Twp, not Chillicothe, Ross Co OH census (pg 244 17/20 with Elias Beaver, Nancy Shasteen, Philip Thompson, Ezekiel Thompson, Levi Beaver and two Jesse Pritcharts) Martha Shasteen male 1 5-10 (Ja2 ?1820-25), 1 10-15 (Ja1? 1815-20), 1 15-20 (1810-1815 James), females 1 < 5 (Eliza), 2 5-10 (JaF1 ? & Nancy) 1, 30-40 (Martha 33)

1840 Union, Ross Co OH census () Martha Shasteen male 1 20-30 (James), female 2 15-20 (Eliza & Nancy), 1 40-50 (Martha 43)

1850 Union, Ross Co OH census (pg 267 family 1975, pg 265 was Yellowbud hotel, pg 269 family 1990 James & Eleanor & WHHS ended 272 and 2007 families) Martha 53 b VA abt 1797, Eliza 23 b OH abt 1827, Nancy 29 b VA abt 1821, James (no S.) Shasteen 31 abt 1819] b OH (in this order)

1860 Union, Ross Co OH census (page 119 house 860 taken July 23, 1860 before James C Shasteen married Catharine Creviston) - James (no S.) SHASTEEM 37 [abt 1823] b OH Martha 60 b VA abt 1800, Nancy 30 b VA abt 1830, Eliza 25 b OH abt 1835 (in this order implies James not married to Nancy)

1870 Union, Ross Co OH census pg (4 house 31 - house 29 Robert and Miranda) Nancy CHASTEEN 50 b VA abt 1820 and James (no S.) CHASTEEN 47 b 1823 b OH (order implies Nancy head of house and James not husband) and William 8 b OH (and who is William and where did he go?) - Note one listing away from Robert 60 and Miranda 54 Shasteen and Whittens THIS JAMES STILL WITH NANCY IN 1870 CENSUS SO MUST NOT BE THE JAMES C THAT MARRIED BRINK AND CREVISTON (See James C. son of James b 1807)

1880 Wayne, Pickaway, OH census Nancy Shasteen 50 b 1830 VA f/m VA, SINGLE, NOT WIDOWED, living as AUNT with Shepherd Keller 28 and Mary Keller (Mary Alice Shasteen Keller, dau of William Shasteen b 1814 and Elizabeth Sly Pritchard - This would make Nancy a sister to husband William who married Elizabeth Sly Pritchard assuming they used the term aunt correctly, or more likely a great Aunt if Nancy was the daughter of James brother of Robert. Note that Edward’s son James Madison was born 1824 and married Nancy J Butler b 1831-32 - do not confuse them as James Madison line is clear)

1900 Union Ross, OH census - Shepherd Keller 48, Mary A[Mary Alice Shasteen dau of William d 1902, who was son of Robert] 44, Earl B 20, Eva 20 no Nancy, assume died 1881-1899

Note that when trying to account for children going back in census records from 1860, there are people (children) unaccounted for which may have died or moved on or may have been relatives living in the household for other reasons, possibly Jacob and Alonzo. In this household in the 1830 census, unaccounted for are male 15-20, male 5-10, female 5-10. In 1840 all from 1860 seem to be accounted for.
