Note

Notes for: Mary A. Shasteen b circa 1798 (b circa 1798 (per 1860 census) in VA d after 1860 census in Darlington, PA) Don’t believe could be Robert’s daughter as too old as Robert married 1804. Could be sister if Robert’s mother Phoebe m 1782 at 18 would be b 1764 and 34 at Mary birth. Mary would be more likely daughter than Rosanna below as Mary was married in Ross Co. and then definitively in Henry county in 1840. Rosanna first appears in

Marriage Information: Ross Co. marriages 1798-1849 DAR at CLH, TCT July 1989 Cameron Allen Article and IGI records. Examined county records, no parents indicated. Married by Jacob Ritchart JP, (spelled Ritchhard on Elizabeth Shasteen's entry)

Other information: Rittenger: Mary Shasteen, (born ca. 1804-died Darlington, Pennsylvania) married on June 23, 1828 to Andrew Ewing It has been "passed down" that in the area which became the town of Defiance, Ohio, Rosannah was abducted, attacked, and raped by the Indians which resulted in the birth of her son Andrew Jackson Shasteen, born June 29, 1829 in Ohio. She never married. Mary's husband disappeared/died, so Mary and Rosannah lived together. When Rosannah's son, Andrew Jackson, moved to Pennsylvania, Mary and Rosannah moved with him. They died in Pennsylvania (See Rosanna Shasteen <famtree4.doc> for detail, the 1860 census lists Mary A Ewing) Burial information:
